['lɪtl 'bɪghɔːn 'rɪvə], rechter Nebenfluss des Bighorn River, rd. 145 km lang, im südlichen Montana, USA. Am Little Bighorn River geriet am 25. 6. 1876 eine Abteilung des 7. US-Kavallerieregiments unter G. A. Custer in einen Hinterhalt der Indianer, v. a. Sioux und Cheyenne unter Crazy Horse und Sitting Bull; alle Soldaten und Offiziere (über 250 Mann) wurden getötet (Schlacht am Little Bighorn, auch als Custer's last stand bekannt). Der heute innerhalb der Crow Reservation liegende Kampfschauplatz wurde zum Nationaldenkmal erklärt (Little Bighorn Battlefield National Monument); auf ihm befindet sich ein Nationalfriedhof.
